Audience Research for Thriller Films

A task was set for us to research the audience of Thriller Films such as gender and age. To do this I used the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) which is a globally used site that has millions of registered users. This is important as we need to get as much data as we can when making our Thriller Film. I researched the audience ratings for 5 Thriller films :

The Dark Knight

By looking at this chart mostly Males aged 18-29 saw this movie and have highly rated it. Those Under 18 also rated it higher than those Over 18. The Female audience seems small in comparison to the Male audience and judging by the lower ratings of 8.8 to  6.9 it would seem that women did not like this movie as much as males. From this we can tell that The Dark Knight is very much suited to Males aged 18-29. It also appeals to the younger generation but the mass audience is with the older student type audience. Our Thriller needs to hit this target, it needs to appeal to Males especially and we need to appeal to an audience aged 18-29.
