Crime Thriller

Crime Thrillers are a mixture of both crime films and thrillers and the main elements of a crime thriller are suspense and mystery. They tend to follow the experiences of a criminal and not a good guy, and they usually focus on crimes such as: serial killers/murders, heists, chases and double-crosses. Examples of popular crime thrillers are Hostage and Ocean's eleven. So if we decide we want to use the theme of crime in our thriller we will need to know who the target audince should be by studying the viewer ratings supplied by IMDb.

Hostage
The ratings on the right are for the film Hostage and although they show that females under 18 liked it more than anybody else it also shows that they are the least amount of people that voted on the poll which implies that not as many watched the film. This is probably because crime thrillers are not very appealing for women and therefore it would be innacurate to target our audience based on these results. Females between 18-29 also enjoyed this film.




Ocean's Eleven

The ratings on the right display the votes of people for the crime thriller 'Ocean's Eleven'. Using these results you can see that males under 18 are the most in favour of this film and are therefore the target audience for this film. However, females aged 18-29 also seemed to enjoy it a lot, and considering that there are more votes by this group than by males under 18 it would seem that they are also very interested in thes types of films.






In conclusion, if we are to use the crime theme for our thriller we will need to take into account the fact that males under 18 and fenmales between 18-29 both enjoy these films a lot. Howver, if we were to make a crime Thriller, i believe that we will target males under 18
