Close-up
Close-ups are used to show something in more detail than any other shot. It is normally used to look at the expression of a person or to look at an object of importance. It just allows the audience to see what the characters see. Here is an example of a close-up, looking at some groseme hands in the introduction of the film Se7ev. A close-up is used to emphasise the strangeness of the hands.
Camera Compisition
Sometimes in Thrillers the camera composition can be used to great effect. This is because the compisition of a shot can often tell you a lot about whats happening and who the characters are. An example of this is in the film The Usual Suspects when the police are interviewing a witness. When you first see the shot it is clear that that is what it is because it clearly shows two people facing another and watching intently
