Thriller Elements

The Main elements of a thriller

  • Suspense - Suspense is the wait for something to happen, making the audience wonder and wait for something to happen, the audeince has a sense of uncertainty of what is to happen and they can do nothing about it. this can be achieved in a variety of ways such as camera angles, lighting, setting, props, sound, dialogue e.t.c
  • Mystery - greatly linked with suspense as the audience wondering and not knowing what is going on which also creates suspense. Without mystery the audience would not want to watch on as they would know what happens. Mystery also digs deeper as it onvolves why things happened or are going to happen depending on previous events or current events the audience wants to figure out or find out the previous events or events yet to come.
  • Tension - Tension is greatly linked with suspense as anything could happen audience doesnt know what is going to happen but they know something is going to happen, all the tension is released at the moment when it does. Tension can be increased via music, fast cutting rates, camera angles, dialogue e.t.c.
  • Our company needs to find effective ways to achieve these elements for our film to be succesful.
